Wonderful News from Tatiana Myers.

Hello to all my friends on DPP!..

I wasn't posting lately, just because I was too busy with other things.
Today, however, I have to share some news what made me jump and scream this very morning.
I got an official letter confirming that I was juried and accepted as newest member of IGOR - International Guild of Realism.
Joining of this organization was one of my big goals for and I'm very honored and happy to see that all that work I put into achieving of this goal has finally paid back.

Now I'm just waiting what will be the next adventure in my artistic journey. I have so many dreams and so many planes and long way to go... Perfection is just like horizon, you may try to reach it and it is never here for you, but it keeps you going... This is a best part I like about art.

Barrels Watercolor by Kathy Michels

I took advantage of those sunny days last week to get some photos in the local area. It seems like there are so many beautiful things that we miss each day - that is until we start snapping those pics. Then it is really amazing to see what is just minutes from home. I had fun painting these barrels for a little practice this week. Each and every painting is always an adventure. I learn so much from each one.

September exhibit - more than a year since David Bottini exhibited in Harrisburg.

I began working on my favored light and environmental effects at locations from two trips to formal gardens. As my second and third paintings emerged - I realized I have a related theme that is worth pursuing with more paintings.

Here are 3 paintings in what I am calling my "Off The Path" series ...

These and many other paintings are part of a local (Central Pa) September exhibit.

I have enjoyed a good week - several productive long days in the studio.

My 72 X 48" canvas is next up for some serious work ... I focused on two smaller pieces during the past few days.

12 x 12" "October Morning After a Rain Shower" - completed

30 X 36" "Winter Morning" - close to being resolved (really not good snapshots)

Enjoying a bit of relief ... having completed what is needed for an exhibit that opens in Providence Rhode Island next Friday and paintings for another one-person exhibit that installs in N. Va. on Saturday ...

The Capitol, DPP exhibit, and a good weekend ahead, David Bottini, paintings for Gabriel

It was a pleasure meeting many of the Daily Painters group at the reception yesterday afternoon - a spirited and convivial group of artists! (and a silent keyboard round of applause for Mary Beth's fine effort in bringing us all together and working hard to create the DPP blog and group *******************)

Excited to have an uninterrupted weekend to work in my studio - likely to complete the large scale painting I have been involved with for the past month (will post when it is completed)

A nice bonus to an already hopeful weekend ... I got a call from the Art Assoc. of Hbg. - I am awarded the Rober Fuller Award for Impressionism in the exhibit that opens on Sunday during the Annual Art Walk! (painting is above)

I worked on this painting off and on during last two weeks. One more landscape of that very same Cove Creek with all it's mysteries. I used combination of watermedia and charcoal underpainting, mixed soft pastels and pencils and alcohol wash to finish this work. it was not the easiest one to paint and I think I have to do it better... next time, when I will try something similar. This will be my newest addition to my 12 x 12" landscape series (one of my favorite formats).

This miniature pastel painting was  exhibited on  MASF 2010 (biggest International Show of miniature art in the World).

I was lucky to have 3 of my pastel paintings juried into that show. Two of them are local PA landscapes and last one this seascape what I painted from photos we took last summer during our trip to Central FL. I really enjoyed working on this small painting it is brining back many good memories.

This is one of my very first projects in Oil Pastel. At beginning I used to work on watercolor paper, but then switched to the board, just because it is easier for me to frame most of my work this way. This work is done with two different sets of OPs. Soft pastels - Sennelier brand were used for painting of water and more dry Neopastels were used to render those rocks. generally I love to work with seascapes but rarely can find a perfect reference what I would love to work from.

One more portrait of my niece, Veronika. This time - in pastels. I have a goal to do the same painting in different media - oil, watercolor, pastel, oil pastel, perhaps even egg tempera (if I'll have time and will, since the last one is really slow process for me).
This way I can learn what I like the best about paints, supports etc. and see what works for me the best without spending of long time on new drawing over and over again. :-)
