I have enjoyed a good week - several productive long days in the studio.
My 72 X 48" canvas is next up for some serious work ... I focused on two smaller pieces during the past few days.
12 x 12" "October Morning After a Rain Shower" - completed
30 X 36" "Winter Morning" - close to being resolved (really not good snapshots)

You create atmosphere, even with such seeming realism. I don't know whether you seek that in your subjects or interject it when you paint, but it certainly works!
These paintings are, as always, amazing. I have one question, though--Do you ever take time to sleep?
Beautiful Paintings David...you can walk right into the October Morning piece!!!
Stunning!
Thanks for your comments!
Dianne - I always inject content into my work - the approach/brushwork seeking a motif to play around with, the stylized subject, the slightly exaggerated saturation of palette and my attempt to empty any trivial specificity in hopes of creating an experience that can be fitted to a viewers memory ... some of the ways I hope to create a pictorial environment.
Painting is what I do - 350+ days each year ... after so many years of being primarily an artist, I no longer see myself in most other contexts ... so, Cecilia - I sleep poorly, always have - and I love the pre-dawn silence - that is when a good day in the studio is established (for me)
