"Sunset" by Debra Tritt Kreiger

"12"x22" watercolor on 260lb arches paper

This egret was resting along the Beaufort River in S.C. I liked the backlighting of the bird and decided to create a sunset sky to play off the cool white of the bird. The colors in this new painting sing! See in person at the Carlisle Arts Learning Center Exhibit(Shared Observations), 38 West Pomfret Ave., Carlisle, PA from May 19th - June 19th.

"Pink Flamingo" by Debra Tritt Kreiger

5x7 watercolor on arches 140lb paper

I've painted two small flamingo paintings and videoed the progress. I'd like to say I'm learning new technology, but I'll leave that to our son Jason who put everything together. You can see the video on www.facebook.com/brainvessel
Please join me at my show "Colors of Nature" at Brainvessel (The Gallery), 4704 Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA. Opening Reception is tonight and tomorrow night June - 17 -18 from 7-10pm. Live Demo will be at 6pm tonight.
I'm so excited and honored to be showing at our son Jason and his business partner and friend Doug's beautiful gallery. Please come out and support the the artist and have a wonderful time. The gallery is filled with many wonderful and unusual gifts for that special dad.

"Home Sweet Home" by Debra Tritt Kreiger

7"x10" watercolor painting on 140lb arches paper
sold
This is a sweet painting showing the dedication and love the bluebirds show while raising the next generation of bluebirds. If you look closely you'll see another creature making himself at home.

"Tiny Dancer" by Debra Tritt Kreiger

7"x10" watercolor on 140lb arches paper

This is a female ruby-throated hummingbird. Usually the male is painted with his brillant color and red throat,  but I chose to show how beautiful the female is.

"To Hear a Mockingbird" by Debra Tritt Kreiger

Sold!

I'm always happy and grateful when my paintings find a home. Thank you Perry County Council of the Arts Gallery in Newport, PA. and the new owners.
There is always a story behind every painting. This painting evolved during a plein air painting trip on the Gettysburg Battlefield. He perched himself on top of an apple tree nearby and just gave us the dickens the whole time we were painting! I knew I would paint him later in the studio so I took careful notes and pictures to help the painting develop. I chuckle every time I see this painting just thinking about that day!

"Kestrel" by Debra Tritt Kreiger

11"x15" watercolor on 140lb arches paper
I love to paint wildlife, especially when I actually get to meet my subject. I met this beautiful kestrel at the Charleston Aquarium. They call him Phoenix because his talons were burned when he landed on a live wire. His accident prevents him from being released back into the wild. He was a joy to see and talk to! In the wild he would be a little thinner, but I chose to paint him as beautiful as I saw him.
I also incorporated a new technique I learned from Luke Buck which really gives it a painterly feel.

"To Hear a Mockingbird" by Debra Tritt Kreiger

Watercolor 8.5" x 11" on 140lb arches paper

This painting has been on my to do list for awhile. While I was plein air painting in Gettysburg, this handsome, but sassy mockingbird seemed to be amused at what I was doing. He hung around and chatted awhile. Here he is on top a young apple tree in all his glory!
