"Letort Morning", Pastel by Cheryl Kugler

A small, but talented group of artists from CALC (Carlisle Arts Learning Center) have been getting together once a month. In June, we spent a Saturday morning sketching out at Letort Spring Park in Carlisle.  Back in my art studio, my onsite sketch turned into a pastel under-painted with watercolor.

Delicate Delphiniums by Cheryl Kugler

Delicate Delphiniums by Cheryl Kugler, 30" x 30", oil on canvas
A delphinium is hard to grow. I know. I've tried. So, I knew it would be hard to find one to paint in a garden. But, I found one and happily painted away. The petals are delicate. The morning sun creates back lighting and interesting shadows on the thin flower petals. An analogous paint selection creates soft harmony.

To see more photos and read more about my process please check out this detailed post on my artist blog.

Thank you for your eye and critique!

Sue Marrazzo Speaks At Career Day

On Friday, October 4, 2013, I had the opportunity to talk to a group of 26, 8th graders at Good Hope Middle School in Mechanicsburg, PA. I was invited to talk about ART as a career. I covered many different career paths and what is required for them. I then got to show some of my ART, and then spoke about being a gallery represented artist and art instructor. Last but not least, the students created their own ATC (Artist Trading Card) Collage. They used found papers like: book pages, maps, tissue, junk mail, magazine pages, and more. What FUN! Thanks to all the students for their time and attention.

"I Wanna Learn To Dance" by Kathy Michels

This adorable little four year old is getting ready for another ballet class. I loved the expression on her face. She was so intense and into the moment. She wanted so much to be able to dance. The drawing is finished and tomorrow I will be painting her in watercolor. This is a smaller piece - just 8" x 10".
