The deer at our old home in Kentucky would come up near the big oak tree early in the mornings looking for acorns, then move on into the field near our neighbor's pond, which had been partially covered with ice. The deer seemed so tame and friendly... until we step outside. 

The broom-sage in the back field gave off a lovely orange-ish glow in the early morning sunrise.

Had a really nice day with the Eric and Nancy Olson, friends and family in Port Royal, PA. When I got home all I had to do was add the sunflowers and a few more zinnias. This was a view from the farm looking over to the neighbors farm and these wonderful silos and farm buildings glowing in the sun. There was so many areas to paint I had to make sure I included the zinnias,sunflowers,butterflies and the pond which are a few of many that makes this place magical!

This past weekend I had the pleasure to spend the weekend camping in my brand new RV! We were at the Old Mill Stream Campground in Lancaster and this was our view across the stream, of an Amish farm. I got to paint outdoors both mornings. GLORIOUS!! The top painting was sold to a fellow camper, right off my easel. Hawley Farm by Rodrica Tilley

Susquehanna County farm land is marginal, at best, and only the cleverest and hardest working farmers make their farms prosper in this northern, hilly section of our state. This traditional dairy farm has branched out into retail meats and uses natural and sustainable practices to raise animals & crops.

The picturesque quality to the agricultural lands here is top notch. On this partially overcast winter's day only one young cow (known as a heiffer, until it gives birth-freshens) was out grazing on a bit of exposed pasture.
