Autumn Suite - four related compositions by David Bottini, paintings 'for Gabriel'

Working toward completing my part of a juried 3 artist exhibit coming soon in Providence, RI. The exhibit is titled "Intimate Spaces" - this group (and 7 other paintings) will be included.

Set out to create a group of paintings that interact as compositions as well as being a thematic series. Each painting can stand alone as an independent piece - but I like the synergy of the suite.

"The Govenors Fall Garden" By Debra Tritt Kreiger

"The Governors Fall Garden" 4"x6" Watercolor on 300lb paper

I couldn't resist painting this scene. The birch tree which had an unusual color, with its' bark shedding and the rich color of the berries and leaves. It was a cold day with not much sunshine but the colors in the garden were very warm!
You can view the original at Gallerie 13 in December. Don't forget first Friday, December 3rd from 6-9

Big, blank, and challenging ... paintings by David Bottini, for Gabriel.

Ahh, a few days completing a painting and messing around with some sketches for a new, large painting. I have worked an earlier iteration and also just completed a small study to get back into the stunning glow of a memorable late November day in 2008. The light was wane, lemon yellow and the effect on a full autumn palette still stirs me. I took over 100 photos - and worked some quick on-site studies that day - knowing it was a combination of color and light that would resonate for me over time.

Pictures show both the small study (contrasted in front of the big "Daddy Bear" canvas)and the 10 X 8"study as a separate image. I spent time this morning - with a large sign painting brush and loose gestured a la prima approach (all work done with paint and brush)- setting in the preliminary sketch.

I will work the massing and under-painting as the next several hours work on the painting. It is a pleasure when the scale engages a physical approach - the pacing and "dance" of working into such a large piece.

"Hay Rolls" by Tatiana Myers

"Hay Rolls" by Tatiana Myers

8 x 10" Ampersand pastel board.

Soft pastel.  Framed.  ©2009.

This is my latest painting, what I did to take a brake from my Koi Pond, what takes a lot of my time. "Hay Rolls" was started and finished at one evening. Reference photo taken this summer at one of our local farms, close to the place where we board our horses.

"Sunset at Kings Gap" by Debra Tritt-Kreiger

"Sunset at Kings Gap"
Watercolor

Painting size is 10"x13" and is painted on 140lb Arches cold pressed paper. The painting is for sale and can be seen and purchased at Gallerie 13.

I'm very excited to be a part of the Daily Painters of Pennsylvania. This is my first experience with blogging and it's a little challenging. Please let me know what you think.

This is a watercolor painting I did recently. It was a scene from Kings Gap on a nice cool autumn evening. I work from my own photographs in the comfort of my studio, but enjoy exploring Pennsylvania's great outdoors with my camera in hand.
