Sunflowers in Watercolor by Susan Gray

These were begun on site from the Ashcombe Farm Sunflower field. The size is 8x12 inches. I found the shapes of their bowed heads, withered petals, broad leaves and the jungle of foliage behind to be so interesting and a lot of fun to depict. See this painting at Art & Soul Gallery in Lemoyne, PA.

Cedar Trio - Watercolor by Susan Gray

This little ditty was done completely en plein air at Gettysburg Park near the Alabama Monument. There are a couple of places at that location where the Cedar trees punctuate the landscape in rhythmic form. It's size is 7 inches square.

Susquehanna view from Marysville - Watercolor by Susan Gray

I've been hesitating on putting this watercolor painting in a frame, wondering if I should try to add to it. At this point I've decided to let it be. We have so many hazy days on the Susquehanna, and the lack of detail here communicates that. It's 10x13 inches and completed entirely en plein air.

Horse Tree by Susan Gray

I began this Watercolor plein air on a farm off Lewisberry Road near Grantham, PA.

A huge multi-trunked tree gives shade to a scenic horse pasture.

It is framed in a smoked silver-colored box frame including a double off-white and soft sage mat. The framed painting is 17x21 inches; the approximate size of the art is 12x16 inches.

This work is currently on exhibit at the 2nd floor Gallery in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Annette's Iris by Susan Gray

I began this Iris watercolor plein air from Annette Braught’s garden. There are also some accents of watercolor pencil.

I was enamored of the Iris bud’s tightly furled purple petals exposing delicate greens and lavenders of the still-developing flower. It is framed in an antique gold color with a gold-lipped oyster mat measuring 12x9 inches.

The painting’s approximate dimension is 8x5 inches.

It can be presently seen on exhibit at The 2nd Floor Gallery in Mechanicsburg, PA.
