I painted this last fall and with my husband's annual golf outing quickly approaching, I thought it would be appropriate to post.  The grass is turning a wonderful shade of green, flowers and trees are blooming everywhere.  Spring is a glorious time!  

Imaginary Landscapes Series

In addition to the small paintings I do daily, I continue a series of larger work - "Imaginary Landscapes." Making these has kept  me from going completely crazy on the long, cold days of winter because I can imagine summer in high color with warm temperatures.

This piece was completed as part of the Daily Paintworks Challenge which is a web based initiative to motivate daily painters to .... you got it!... paint daily. This was the first of I hope many. The website states there will be one photo posted a week. This weeks challenge is interesting.. find an object to paint, set your timer for 10 minutes then paint. Stop when the timer goes off... repeat 10 times..... Check it out at:

This was so fun and rewarding to complete in a day. I especially enjoyed seeing the other artist's approach in style and composition. The challenge is open to all artists so I "Challenge" the Daily Painters of Pennsylvania to give it a try! Hope to see you in the next challenge!

The view is from high on a roof top looking down.
You see the side of the old buildings and a bit of the roof.
The cobblestone street and an outdoor cafe with tables
and chairs and a few people walking.

Love these French windows... there is a lot to catch
your eye. The window box with flowers, worn shutters,
the reflection in the glass panes, a little green from a bush
on the right, and a building that is just plain old!

really see the distance between the fence in the
foreground and the building. It is a little trickier to
get that feeling across with out showing sky or ground.

Inner Harbor. I am not a boat painter and
have a limited knowledge about boats but I
could not miss these reflections. The late
afternoon sun created this wonderful

"Mute Swan" By Debra Tritt-Kreiger

"Mute Swan" 11"x15" Watercolor on 140lb paper

Just finished this painting. I was remembering the smell of the spring gardens that surrounded the pond of swans as they zipped around happily in their South Carolina home. I chose to emphasize the colors and textures of the sky and the gardens reflected onto the water. A perfect backdrop for this gorgeous Mute Swan who was moving rather fast.
