"Spring Joy", silk painting, Tatiana Myers.

 My latest art project was another painting on silk.

I wanted to make something very different from just regular

"wall-hanging" piece of art, therefore I made it

to be wearable one.

I made one of my schnauzer-dog into my model

and added some bright tulips from the last spring photoshoot.

I love my dogs and I love my flowers!...

I combined both and got beautiful idea for this piece

what I called "Spring Joy".

 This is a hand-painted with silk dyes one-of-a-kind scarf

decorated with spring blooms and pictures of dogs.

It is finished now and I only have to steam it in a day or two to set the colors.

I'm ready for the next project and ready for spring!

 even it took a while from start to finish. Mostly done in Pastel pencils,

 finished with touch of Soft Pastels. NFS.

Yes, I love to do dog portraits!!! Getting the model to sit still can be a challenge though...

Well, didn't do anything of this sort for the long time... But my dear friend Christina

asked me to pint her a picture of her "baby". I decided it will be a good reason

to try out my new pencils and my Canson paper  what I was hording in my art attic.

This is very popular paper for pastels ac charcoal, but I normally ignore it,

because of my love to play with all sorts of underpainting.

However for Abby it was a good choice - simple, yet - delicate.

I'm pleased with result and it was nice to take a brake of Oils.

Most impotently - my friend is very pleased with this portrait too.

I have an Ibizan hound named Halen- this is a portrait of his mother. The breed originated in the Balearic Island of Ibiza and were used to hunt rabbits.

Little girl meets little dog on an up close and personal way:  nose to nose.  The painting was part of a portrait project I have just completed.  The little girl is my great niece Allie and the dog is Hannah, our Westie Rescue.  This will go to someone special for a belated birthday present:  it will go to her Daddy.

A work in progress, Chocolate Lab Retriever, by Linda Young

It's been awhile since I've done a commission on a dog so I thought I'd share this step of my progress with you.  In this step, I wanted to focus on the bone structure and muscle formation of the Chocolate Lab whose name is "Sierra".  Sierra will get a lot more chocolate poured on her to make her coloring come to life; but in this step I wanted to get the reflected light from the water into the underpainting of her coat.

I didn't want to put the collar on the painting and will have to go to my sister's house.  She is dog sitting her grand-dog Sandy who is also a Chocolate Lab.  I'll study the Lab's neck roll fatty area and get a sketch done there to make sure I'm headed in the right direction on Sierra.

The photo I received via email to work from was the largest sized file they had; but unfortunately, it's very pixilated and a lot of detail is lost to cyberspace!

In my effort to create art that shows the love we have for our pets, I drew this from a photo that Katie posted on Facebook. She is a friend and with her permission, I created this portrait of her and her Ibizan hound with a few changes from the original photo. I am not sure I have all the values I want in this. It could be I lost some during the scan so that means I have to make areas darker.
