Grape Arbor - watercolor by Linda Young

Title:  Under the Arbor, 9 x 12 watercolor
copyright 2011 Linda Young
The day was overcast and cloudy with rain threatening to dampen our plein air painting at Two Mile House and for the McClain Celtic Festival.  The rains never came, artists continued to arrive and music from the bagpipes and singers entertained us all.

I painted underneath the grape arbor near the back door of the historic Two-Mile House.  This location was chosen because of the darkness underneath the arbor and hints of yellow greens that glowed through it.  The purple-blue grapes were ripening and mixed among them were dots of green and red from the grapes that were still to mature.

Thank you Taryn, Claire and Mary Beth; I liked standing under this arbor as I painted it.
