SNEAK PREVIEW OF
'EARLY AUTUMN AT THE
BURNSIDE BRIDGE'
Antietam Battlefield, Sharpsburg MD

Sneak Preview of  'Early Autumn at the Burnside Bridge'
(Antietam Battlefield, Sharpsburg, MD)
Oil on Canvas
8 x 16

This coming November, artists Deborah Richardson, Peter Plant
and myself will have our plein air work of Civil War battlefields
displayed at the Delaplaine Art Center in Frederick, MD in an
exhibit entitled 'Hallowed Grounds, En Plein Air'.

Until the exhibit, I am not going to show any full shots of the
work I have done, but rather some 'slices' providing a sneak
preview of paintings that will be in the exhibit.  I am hoping
that it will tempt people to come to the Deleplaine Art Center
to see the actual paintings.  As you may have deduced from
the title, this 'slice' is from a painting of the Burnside Bridge.
If you would like to see more of my work,
please visit my website or my blog. If you are
interested in purchasing any of my paintings you see
here on this blog, please contact me.

I remember [ a million years ago] an art history professor said that you could isolate any portion of a great painting and that piece would stand up as a complete work of art. This sliceop your painting is a wonderful, complete work of art.

I agree with Cecelia; this slice is very nice.

How exciting for you Claire!
I am sure it will be an excellent show as I know you have been preparing for it for a long time.

Thanks so much for your comments Cecelia, Linda and Julie! This is a very special exhibit for me because I absolutely love to paint on the hallowed ground of the battlefields - am really looking forward to it!
