View from our Deck, OBX - Dianne Lorden

I'd set this aside to complete a crafted gourd order, but got back to it today to finish it up. At least, this is as far as I'm going with it. It turned out sort of "whimsical" in appearance. I don't know why I shifted in that direction; perhaps because it went from being en plein air to a memory. The biggest challenge turned out to be the scrubby shore growth - it looks like a dense tangle of overgrown brush, but it's really so much more interesting than that! Not easy to do it justice. Ah, well! Another vacation in the scrap book. (Could have done without the hurricane.)
My artwork can be seen on my site, South Mountain Sketchbook.

Very nice Dianne. Doesn't look like a hurricane is on the horizon!

It's nice to think about the Outer Banks the way you have depicted them in this painting prior to Hurricane Irene, Dianne. This is so lovely - a wonderful little slice of Summer.
