Day 2 of the Gettysburg Fringe Festival Paint Out by Mary Beth Brath

Gettysburg Fringe Festival Plein Air Paint Out - Day 2 - Bushman Farm
New Growth on the Battlefields by Mary Beth Brath
8x10" Acrylic on Canvas
100% Plein Air

Today many of us painted at the Bushman Farm on the Battlefield Auto Tour.  DPP members Dianne Lorden, Steve Wetzel, Susan Gray, Claire Carnell and I enjoyed the gorgeous rolling landscapes that are just full of color.

The only umbrella I could find for my easel "in a pinch" was the one shown in this post.  Looks like the colors of the umbrella must have inspired my painting in some way!  I was a bit like Van Gogh out there today.  Quickly covering the canvas with yummy colors while standing in the very hot sun. It was pure heaven for a plein air painter.

BTW - I don't recommend a multi-colored umbrella for your easel.

This painting will be framed and ready for purchase at the Historic Train Station in Gettysburg on Sunday June 19th during our public reception.  Price is $150 and 25% goes to the Gettysburg Festival.

Your "by the way" made me laugh, Mary Beth. I'm glad you posted this here because I wanted to see it closer up. This came out beautifully and it so looks like you and Claire had a wonderful day!

And I love the diagonal composition and the way you rendered the grasses on the hillside.
