DAY TWO GETTYSBURG FRINGE FESTIVAL
Plein Air Event
Original Oil Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell

DAY TWO - JUNE 11, 2011
Gettysburg Fringe Festival Plein Air Event

I have been so excited about painting on location at
the Bushman Farm.  It's one of my favorite farms on the
Gettysburg Battlefield, and we were actually able to drive
right down onto the property to paint.  So do I paint the
farmhouse?  No...when I saw the hazy blues and greens
and golds of the view behind the house, I knew where
my easel was going to be set up.  This view actually
shows the Slyder Farm barn and some outbuildings -
another farm I have really wanted to paint.
Here is my painting in progress, and was painted while standing
in front and to the left of the Bushman farmhouse
(and under a nice big, shady tree).

Once again, the hot sun and haze in the morning hours created some
beautiful colors in the sky and fields.  I also liked the way the
rail fence leads the eye right into the painting.

trees on the Bushman Farm.  Hope you can see the beautiful,
fresh colors in this one!
