Make It Squishy, watercolor by Linda Young

Make It Squishy
14 x 18 Watercolor on 140# Arches CP
Linda Young, artist
The painting was done of two young girls playing in the watery sand at Laurel Lake as the sun was setting one evening last Fall.  I remember how the wet sand felt in my own hands when I played with my grandkids and other youngsters, they told me just how to make those sand pies..."Just make it squishy"; so I did.

I love this, Linda. Reminds me of my own childhood at the beach.

Linda-The days of playing with young grandchildren go by so swiftly--my grandchildren are 20 and 18 now-still love them as much-but there is still a tug on my heart when I see beautiful paintings of children, like this, playing, but focusing on their "mission."

Such a great painting, Linda. Love the title. It reminds me, too, of my kids on various beaches at this age. (*sigh*)!

What a wonderful painting, Linda - and even before I read your post I wondered if this was from one of the lakes up at Pine Grove Furnace.
You really capture the essence of the children at play! Fantastic.

(Me too Claire.) Linda - love the way you captured movement with the hair of the child that is standing.

Thanks Claire and Mary Beth; those lakes provide many interesting subjects for us, don't they? It makes me feel good you recognized the place. :)
