Sunflower Alley Series Plein Air Watercolor Landscape/Sunflower Field by Pennsylvania Daily Painter Bertie Brown

Sunflower Alley

original plein air watercolor landscape/ sunflower field: 14"w x 16"h

One Last Hurrah

The Sunflower Deli has now closed

The frailty of my sunflowers sadly exposed

Gone are the golden sun bonnets

Each face laid bare

No seeds left upon it

The once dripping nectar has all been drawn

And their once great beauty

Vanished, gone

The buzzing bees have packed up their suitcases Backpacking butterflies have flown to new places

Those feisty gold finches

Did anyone notice

Have fled leaving no traces

This summer's show is over and done

But wait

Hadn't it only just begun?

From spritely young sprouts to bodacious blossoms

To shy sunflower girls

Sorority sisters

And don't forget

That chorus line of jitter-bugging hipsters!

Then

Majestic mommas, patient posers

Finally those gossiping golden girl sewers...

My dressed up backyard is now in tatters

With leaves petals and seeds

Lying about all scattered

I know as I watch their imminent demise

They've had the times of their lives

And of this I'm quite certain

The hour is now here

To draw the final curtain...

Beautiful sweeping landscape that keeps my eyes joyously wandering around the painting.

Let's keep enjoying those sunflowers as they won't be blooming much longer. I think this is wonderful, and love that sun-flower covered hill in the background!
