Elephant Walk Watercolor by Kathy Michels

"Elephant Walk" was so much fun to paint. The circus came to Hershey a few months ago. I happened to see the train rounding the bend. I try to never leave home without my camera and was so happy I had it that day. I could see the train slowing so I parked and headed for the small group of people that had gathered. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity as I got to see elephants being unloaded from the train and marched up the street. The elephants all looked so happy it was amazing. I was so glad I could capture those moments with the camera and it was so exciting to relive those moments as I painted this watercolor.

I am glad to be back - our internet provider had a glitch in our system and we have been down for over a week. I missed seeing all the wonderful artwork!

This elephant does look happy. I snapped a few pictures years ago when the circus came to Hanover but I left before the two elephants went out of control and smashed into the windows of the Sears auto center.

Kathy, your work has such a great sense of story. You capture a moment in time and make the viewer want to know more...
