"Lost in Thought" Watercolor by Kathy Michels

After painting my baby ballerinas I had to do this lovely teen who was just lost in her thoughts. While the other girls prepared for class she sat down for a few moments and she was just a million miles away. She didn't seem to notice me in the corner of the room as I snapped her picture. It was so intense to paint because you just cannot quit wondering what was going through her mind or quit feeling her pain. I love painting people because there is such an intensity there with moods and emotions. It is a challenge to try and portray those deep feelings in my art.

I will leave the same statement here as on your last post regarding the Lititz show. Moments of deep, quiet contemplation can be the first step to reaching our next goal. Everyone needs time like this to put things in perspective and once again set the go button. The journey is not easy.

Kathy, she looks very sad; I think you've captured her emotion quite well.
