FOURTH OF JULY SAIL
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Fourth of July Sail'
Oil 12 x 16

Another painting from my trip down to North Carolina
this past fourth of July. We were waiting for the water
ferry to return us from Shackleford Island back to
Beaufort when I spotted this sailboat cruising between
the islands. I really enjoyed seeing the American flag waving
so proudly from the back of the sailboat.
(Note: Those seagulls in my previous post 'Gull Talk' were
directly to my right!)

Great colors in the water and I love the way the water is licking the shore.

Dont' we just love to paint our trips!
I really like the way this painting is in thirds, with each segment's natural border standing out nicely. And all punctuated by a charming sailboat! The colors are quite rich, too.
