"Peonies" Oil Pastel WIP by Tatiana Myers.

"Peonies", Oil Pastel WIP by Tatiana Myers.
11 X 14 " Ampersand Hardboard, Colourfix primer
Watercolor and Oil Pencils underpainting.

My latest Oil Pastel project. This will be a Demo pointing for Art and Soul Gallery, I'm going to do it this upcoming Friday, January 29 2010.
I will be working there approximately from 11:30 to 2:30.

The gallery address is 900 Market St., Lemoyne, PA 17043. Call 717-761-1270, or email artandsoul@pa.net for more information

My goal is to show Oil Pastel painting technique with concentration on Oil Pastel as medium only. So all preparation work had to be done at home, before demonstration.

I'm working on Ampersand Hard board with Art Spectrum Colourfix primer and underpainting is watercolor and Oil Pencils.

For finishing of this painting I'll be using full set of Holbein brand Oil Pastels.

With questions about this paintings e-mail me at TanyaOfOz@aol.com .

I love the painting much better than the photo. The blossom glows and the foliage is so interesting..your interpretation is a success!

Thank You, Bertie!

It is an idea - to make paintings better then reference.

Often I'm taking a simply subjects, will have to spend some good amount of time with Photoshop to get the right composition, values etc.. Then when I'm approximately happy with it, I will start to paint.

I had no intentions to use this particular reference for my DEMO, however due one more crash of hard drive with most of my pictures, I just had to play with what I still have available. Computers are powerful tools, but sometimes giving us a lot of disappointment.

Tatiana, this is gorgeous! A peony is not exactly an easy flower to paint, so this will really be an impressive demo.

Thank You, Claire!

No, not the easiest one, for sure... too much of white and so fluffy etc., etc...
This is why I say, I would much better play with another reference, but... I'm not even sure, if I can safe my files now. So will have to deal with this one.

Fantastic work Tatiana! I would be at your demo at Art & Soul if I could, but I will be at Gallerie 13. I also love the way you showed the reference photo in your post!!

Beautiful!

Thank You, Mary Beth!

I have a very easy solution. No way I'll finish it at one session, so I can do some more just for you at Gallerie 13 some other time! :-)

Thank You, Autumn!

I hope it will stay this way too... Often when I start something on a way I like, it is the most hard to keep up with that. But I think I can manage.

I am planning to get to your demo to see you paint in person. I am dreading the 4 minute drive there from Camp Hill. You are so diverse in both your mediums and your subjects, and amazingly you are wonderful at all of them!

Thank You, Thom!
It would be great to see you there.
You are right - I'm changing subjects and media quite often. this way I'm not getting tired of it and sometimes when something doesn't really progress on a way I want to see it, I always can do something different instead, till will get good idea how to finish that stubborn painting I had to put on a shelf for a while.
