"Stawberries" By Debra Tritt Kreiger

"Strawberries" 15"x 11" Watercolor on 140lb Arches Paper

Ahhhhh! I think I'm finally done. This was an challenge, but once I start something I really like to see it to the end. The deep reds don't show really well on the computer, but I'm very pleased with the results.

Work in Progress by Debra Tritt Kreiger

Watercolor on 140lb Arches paper. Size 15"x11"

This is a work in progress..I started this during the wine walk and thought it would be good to post as many were interested in the process. I build color and depth before I work any details. This is a bowl of strawberries which will be a visual feast when it is done!(I hope!) Most of my recent paintings have been painted using reds so this will fit in nicely.

"Strawberry" by Debra Tritt Kreiger

"Strawberry" 2"x3" ACEO Card (Card measures 2.5"x3.5")

This is an original watercolor study of a strawberry. I ate a lot of strawberries on vacation in S.C and I am still eating them since my return home. They are red, delicious and make an interesting painting.I painted this card in preparation of a much larger painting. I will be starting the larger painting at Gallerie 13 on Saturday May 21 during the Mechanicsburg Art and Wine Walk from 1-5pm. Stop in and see me!

MIRACLES

Day 14

Two years ago, I decided to plant strawberries
in one of the raised beds of my vegetable
garden. The twenty plants did well - our first crop
was not large, but we had some wonderful, sweet
strawberries. I was so looking forward to the
next growing season, when I just knew we
were going to have a bumper crop of berries...

Well, much to my surprize, when I went out
that next year to see how my strawberry plants
were faring, I was shocked to see that all of the
plants were gone...and was even more shocked
to find my husband had pulled all of them out
and had disposed of them because he thought
they were weeds...

But miracles do happen...apparently two of the
plants got tossed into one of the other raised beds
and they took root. Both plants put out
berries, so we might even have enough for some
strawberry shortcake...if I decide to share them
with the culprit...
