"Vanity"Floral Painting By Donna Holdsworth

""Orion"Contemporary Abstract Painting By Donna Holdsworth

This painting is done on 14x11 textured stretched canvas.  It morphed so many times I can't even begin to explain.  After many layers of acrylics, glazes, gels and collage it ended up here!  It reminded me of a constellation so I named it Orion. I named the moths after Orions two brightest stars:  Rigal and Betelgeuse (don't say that 3 times)!!  :)  Visit my BLOG:  Donna Holdsworth Contemporary Art.  Thank you!

This painting is done on 14x11 textured stretched canvas.  Multiple acrylic glazes (I stopped counting after 7!) and washes add depth. "Shelter From The Storm" Contemporary Collage Painting By Donna Holdsworth

This painting is done on 11x14 textured stretched canvas.   I created the church from paper made from  National Geographic pages treated with CitraSolv.  Some truly amazing results can be achieved with this technique!  I drew the man in charcoal, then painted him with acrylic and collaged him into the painting.  I then applied multiple acrylic glazed to create rich color and depth that I am unable to capture with my camera.  BLOG:  Donna Holdsworth Contemporary Art.  Thank you!

This piece is done on 8x10 paper.  I wanted to do the entire thing in dry media.  I almost collaged it to canvas a few times.  My acrylics were calling me!  I held my ground and stuck to the original plan.  Graphite, Conte, charcoal and chalk pastel. "Copse" Contemporary Landscape Painting By Donna Holdsworth

This painting is done on 16x20 textured wood panel.  It started out as a high horizon with a waterfall.  The waterfall turned out great, but the negative space was not good.  It reminded me a big brown dam, which is fine if your looking for a painting of a big brown dam.  I kept on hearing Led Zepplins "When The Levee Breaks" in my head.  Great song, but not the look I was going for.  I ended up retexturizing everything and sculpting the trees in the process.  I then applied multiple acrylic washes and glazes.  I think this is much better.  I love all the transparent layers!  Blog:  Donna Holdsworth Contemporary Art.  Thank you!
