I spied my neighbors' poppies while off to run errands. I couldn't wait to get back to set up my easel. There was a threat of rain, and I wanted to capture this glorious burst of color before the rain knocked off the petals and beat the flowers into the ground. I painted for three hours in the hot sun, finished the painting, cleaned up and then the rains came.
