Iris #3 by Mary Beth Brath
8x10" Acrylic on Panel
This is Iris number 3 in my continuing series. This series is purely about lines and patterns. The flower images come from either my own photos or from photos given to me specifically for this series. The backgrounds are decorative and not what I see with my eyes but what I see with my mind.
Over the past 2 years, I have been experimenting in my home studio with abstracts. This has taught me to look at positive and negative shapes. I am now molding something representational into abstract shapes similar to those found in my abstract studies. The style is similar to how I painted when I first gained gallery representation in 2005.
I am really looking forward to plein air painting this spring and furthering my adventure with this idea in mind.

Another fun work...keep going, MB!
I really like this one -background and foreground are rhythmically connected-love the work on the iris.
Thank you! I am really enjoying this series.
