'Bits of Light'
Gettysburg Festival Art Colony 2012
Oil
10 x 8
On the last day of the Gettysburg Festival Artist Colony,
we decided to go to Little Round Top to paint
in the morning light. It was a beautiful day, and I
really enjoyed painting this area that was directly
to the left of the 12th and 44th New York Infantry
Marker - also called the 'castle'. I liked the impressionistic
look of the scene, and tried to capture that.

What a beautiful painting, Claire. You really captured that light.
Yes, the light coming through the trees is really lovely.
The overall design, composition, of lights and darks is "right on".
