'Watercolor Study of an Adult Butterfly Peacock Bass (Cichla ocellaris)' by Thom Glace

The Butterfly Peacock Bass and other species of Peacock Bass are native to the Amazon River in Brazil, but have been successfully bred in the wild in Florida, Hawaii and Central America. It is a highly prized Fly Fishing trophy, getting over 30 inches in length. It is not of the Bass family, but of the Cichlid family of fish. This family is one of the common fish families that you see in freshwater aquariums.

I was inspired to paint the Peacock Bass by the Sportsman TV Channel show 'WILD ON THE FLY' that filmed a show in the Amazon. It is produced by one of my new galleries- The Grizzly Hackle Fly Shop of Missoula, Montana, who will also sell my product and images on their web site.

WHO WOULD SUSPECT THAT A CREATURE WITH SUCH AN UGLY FACE WOULD HAVE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL BODY-WONDERFUL COLOR AND DETAIL--GREAT JOB AS ALWAYS.
