I had posted some of the progression of this watercolor. This is the finished piece. Although I originally painted the bottom, I ended up cropping it out. There was so much going on with the shadows and the ornate metal bottom of the bench that it was too distracting. I wanted the focus to be on the noses on this one.

I like the cropping here and the direction it leads us.
I like both of your paintings! Really really well done and a unique and fun theme!
Great work Kathy!
Another great one, Kathy--wonderful composition and equally wonderful sentiment.
Just looked at this wonderful painting again. Such a masterful use of black?, blue-black?, not sure of the color--It beautifully unifies the whole composition.
Thank you so much for all the kind words. It is always so fun painting these scenes you run across in life. Cecelia-thank you for the kind words on the black. We have been taught to make our black using Windsor Green (blue shade) mixed with Alizarin. I love the intensity of this mixture and how it always makes the people pop. It is just a vibrant beautiful color.
