"Relics" by Charlotte Yealey

15x20
Acrylic and Colored Pencil
I am not sure if this painting actually shows the idea I had in my mind when I started it but it does raise a few questions for the viewer. Is the dog patiently waiting to follow someone on a bike ride or are these three relics  (the old dog and two old style bicyles) forgotten in this new age?

oooohhh. Very interesting. I am pleased this weekend. Our boys spend too much time on their computers, but they also participate in other activities. 3 out of 4 of them have indoor baseball practice already this year. Yesterday, the 2 youngest raced Pinewood Derby cars in scouts. Today we are off to Ski Round Top to watch our 2 oldest race in a cardboard spaceship sled they built over the last month with their buddies. It is important to help them balance activities.

Oh such a beautiful piece. So peaceful - even the dog is so relaxed. I love the antique feel of the bikes. Definitely a great story here.

This is a lovely painting. The dog reminds me of the one that's in the painting my daughter purchased from you. She loves that painting!

Thanks Mary Beth, Kathy and Deborah for your comments. I keep looking at this painting thinking that I should have shown more gravel on the road. It looks like fog has set in.
