Play Things - Watercolor Still Life by Daily Painter Bertie Brown - Art is Instrumental

Play Things

original watercolor with jacks, marbles, horns: 8" x 10"

back in the day

I remember we played

with marbles and jacks

and baseballs and bats

but sometimes I recall

though I tried hard to stall

I had to apply

my lip

to the tip

of my tarnished old horn

and try not to sound

too bad or forlorn

much later I found

practice, patience plus time

would greatly improve

my horn teacher’s mood!

You are just a master at placing objects that weave through your paintings and lead our eyes on a whimsical trip. So nice, Bertie.

So this is why you wanted those jacks...I knew we would see them eventually! Gorgeous painting, Bertie.
