Center Street, Eureka Springs, Ak. by Dianne Lorden

I don't think I ever posted this one.
I've been really involved in crafting gourds for weeks, for a show and also some holiday orders, so have been away from the paintings. But I've always enjoyed busy, colorful street-scapes and thought I'd share this one. It's a couple of years old. There are a lot of nutty irregularities in it, but it did capture the feeling I enjoy.

My artwork can be viewed at South Mountain Sketchbook

Your gourds have been well received at the gallery! This street scene looks like it could be in Gettysburg. Great work!

I love busy street scenes, as well."Nutty irregularities" aside--the contorted perspectives, crowded composition, interesting details and lively color scheme all create the busy, animated feel of a town or city. There was a painter,Stuart Davis,[ I think in the 50's], who created lively city scenes--much more abstract than yours, but he used bold signs, bright colors and distorted perspectives, along with some recognizable images to convey a city-like feeling.
