Windmill Creek Whimsy
Jane Ramsey

Sketchbook Entry #1 -- Barn and Sunflowers
What an incredible day painting at this beautiful farm up nestled between two mountain ranges outside of Port Royal. The fields of sunflowers were incredible... their blaze of color and expanse of blooms -- happy round faces all pointing towards me. It was such a whimsical feeling... you couldn't stop smiling gazing out at them! Bees buzzed about, birds soared overhead and the weather was perfect.
Nancy and Eric Olson were so kind to open up their farm to the Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters group to paint. I am so happy to be part of this great group...and glad to be able to join members on this day! A memorable day (oh, and an earthquake to top it off!)
Sketchbook Entry #2 -- View from the Barn
There were so many painting venues and I brought my sketchbook along to make some quick plein air sketches in addition to a painting. I love making these sketchbook entries -- it allows me to explore different painting options and collect visual observations.

I think it is so neat that additional sunflower paintings are coming out of our plein air experience at Windmill Creek Farm.
These are way beyond sketches to me, and are worthy of framing and hanging!
