HAZY, LAZY, EARLY SUMMER MORNING By Cecelia Lyden

oil on linen

11x14

Jeanne Hartman invited the Susqurhanna Valley Plein Air Painters out to her farm to paint. Her home is in a lovely, peaceful setting in Dillsburg. I opened the car door and felt a gentle breeze, heard the sound of songbirds and smelled honeysuckle-all pleasures of plein air painting.

I am partial to open fields, trees and and tall grasses--all three of these things line her back yard. I set up my easel and painted for more than three hours-a very enjoyable morning.

Jeanne was my very first watercolor teacher; she's a very interesting lady and a wonderful watercolorist. Your painting has a very warm feeling about it and reminds me of Oklahoma.
