Romance on Depression Glass by Daily Painter of Pennsylvania Mary Beth Brath

Romance on Depression Glass by Daily Painter of Pennsylvania Mary Beth Brath

8x10" Acrylic on Canvas

Finished this one yesterday. The plate is from my collection of American Sweetheart Depression Era Glassware. Throughout the Great Depression, very inexpensive glassware was given out for free when you bought various grocery items. Not sure about this pattern in particular. Anyway, our country has gone through tough times over the past 10 years. We find comfort where we can. This romantic piece of depression glass holds a form of comfort in which many people turn. Yes, it is so lovely...but I do know where to turn to find True Strength.

Beautiful! I love the colors in the plate and the light on the bite of cupcake is fantastic. Made my stomach growl!

MARY BETH-THIS IS MY FAVORITE, SO FAR, FROM YOUR FOOD SERIES--THE PLATE IS TRANSLUCENT AND REFLECTS THE RUBY COLORING OF TABLECLOTH AND THE SPRINKLES--THE DESSERTS LOOK YUMMY, WHICH I ASSUME IS ANOTHER REASON TO PAINT THESE WONDERFUL FOODS.

This is deliciously decadent, and my favorite of your dessert series, Mary Beth!

I am not very "art"-iculate in expressing my reactions when viewing artwork ... but this is an eye-popper and a jaw-dropper! REALLY a beautifully done exquisite piece of work! (...and Amen, on the True Strength!)

I do like this one too. The colors of the goodies and the plate, point of view, background... I just like it.

Cecelia - it is a love affair...a dangerous one at that!

I'm with Cecelia and Claire, Mary Beth -- this is my favorite out of your "confections" series. The plate is painted beautifully, in both color and form. And the desserts, well, they're definitely whetting my tastebuds! Great job!
