Red Azaleas in Plein Air by Linda Young Watercolors

Red Azaleas en Plein Air
Watercolor 10-1/2 x 7

I usually paint from photographs; but today was so beautiful, sunny and nice I thought I'd try to paint my azalea bush that is just now blooming.  I've photographed it for several years now planning always with the intention to paint it; but it just didn't happen.  Until today.

Today was a perfect day and the azaleas invited me to sit awhile as they posed for me.

Beautiful, Linda! I just love the softness of the blooms in the background - really gives a nice depth to this plein air piece.

Thank you Autumn and Claire; I thought I'd better "practice up" before Gettysburg Arts Festival comes around.
