Sophie and I
must say our goodbyes
to poppies that bloomed
in spite of monsoons
those strong April showers
did bring us some flowers
but most couldn’t tread
in water drenched beds
they did do their best
Sophie and I will attest
but maybe next year
there’ll be more poppy cheer
and we’ll have our chance
to paint their Poppy Prance

Beautiful poppies, Bertie! I was so pleased to come home from being away this weekend to find four new poppy blooms - the storm last thursday had ruined all of the previous ones.
