"Orchids in the Ruby Bowl"
12 x 12" Oil on Museum Panel.
This is my second version of "Ruby Bowl" what I started right after I started my pastel version of it.
Do not take me wrong, I love to work with pastels, but framing and showing paintings under the glass sometimes is a big problem. Because I have very limited experience with Oils, I decided to treat this work just the same way I do many works in pastel and started from black in white underpainting.
After it dries, I'll be able to convert it to color with few layers of accurate glazing.
If everything will work out how I planned, I will get my first show painting
what I doesn't need to be put under the glass. I love to try new things and BTW, this Ampersand Gessobord is just as perfect as other products of Ampersand I tried before. Total pleasure to work on.
I will need one more session in Black and White before I can start tinting it up.

I like it in black and white- it shows what a strong design you have.
It's already working beautifully in B & W, so I can only imagine how wonderful this is going to look with color, Tatiana!

I think I spent 2-3 evening playing with that "design", till it finally was what I wanted. Now hard part is - not to loose it.

I truly believe that Oil is a Queen of all mediums. I got to try it when i was a kid, but never had real chance to learn it...Nor a teacher to learn with.
Perhaps this will be the first time, when I'm getting into something serious and may only hope - it will get me somewhere..

I need to let it dry, do one more touch up with B/W let it dry again and then all the fun will start! i will post updates, as soon I have something to show. mean while I'm working on some other projects what will not require any drying... because those are pastels.
