oil on board 5.5"x6" This is one of a series of vegetable paintings that have been occupying me lately. Sometimes I like to focus up close, sometimes get much further back. A benefit of painting a lovely vegetable like this all day is that I get to cook and eat it for dinner. To see more of my works visit:

Who would have guessed a turnip could be so voluptuous and dramatic--very nice.
Welcome to the DPP blog, Taryn. Wonderful volume and brushwork in this...a common vegetable turned into a feast for the eyes!
Turnips are so beautiful, I agree. This is a great piece. Welcome!
Fabulous
A very unusual subject. I don't think I ever saw a painting of a turnip but you made it into a beautiful painting. The colors and how you captured the light makes this exceptional.
Wonderful! I love it!
Thanks everyone for your nice comments.
Welcome to the Daily Painters of Pennsylvania Taryn! Wonderful first post. Painting vegetables is more healthy than painting cheesecake! Great use of color.
This was such a treat to see. Welcome to the group. I'm sure you'll have a lot of nice work to share. I really enjoyed the light on both sides of the form, allowing the turning edge to be in the front closest to the viewer.
Welcome to the blog Taryn! This is a great little painting of a turnip - I never know how to cook these funny vegetables but they sure look neat. I love your lighting in this and the cool reflected color underneath. I look forward to seeing more of your work here!
