African Tenderness by RL Huff

I had so incredibly much fun doing this painting. 12x24 acrylic on canvas, these two sweeties were so fun to watch in the Philly zoo, but were also as much a joy (and challenge) to paint. I have always had a fondness for giraffes and any African animal... I really do hope one day to go to Africa, so I can see them in all their glory, instead of confined to a zoo....Until then, my reference photos will have to tide me over!! :))

Lovely graceful lines and one of my favorite animals!

So sweet! I Love the look of the giraffe's big dark eyes and the interaction between parent and baby. Nice.

I like this your painting very much! I only can imagine that it was both - challenging and joyful to work on... I think you done very well with it.

Thank you, Autumn! they are one of mine too!! They are such beautiful, gentle creatures with the most beautiful eyes, and no one animal is the same as the other!

THanks, Ms. Young!!

Thank you very much, Tatiana!! That means a lot to me coming from you whose works I admire! :)

You not only captured the giraffes beautifully but you set the mood of their environment. Great painting!

Thanks, Charlotte! I very much enjoyed this one, and the environment lighting was fun to do as well. :) It's great when we can take a photo that's 'drab', such as a 'drab' zoo photo and create something more fun! Isn't being an artist FUN!! :))
