WILDWOOD LOOSESTRIFE
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Wildwood Loosestrife'
Oil  11 x 14

When our plein air group, the Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters
went to Wildwood Park in Harrisburg, PA to paint last Summer,
I wasn't able to go.  Fortunately, I was able to get over there while
the yellow lotus and loosestrife were still blooming and I got some great
photographs to use as references for this painting.

I loved the low-hanging limbs of the tree on the left, and the
way the mountains, Susquehanna River, flowers and fields created
these terrific bands of color.

Beautiful Claire! I remember our discussion at Gallerie 13 about just how vivid that pink really is. Love how you handled the trees.

So warm and friendly. Love that mountain and hint of a field in the distance.

Thank you all for the very kind comments!

(Mary Beth - I was on the boardwalk of the park, so that bit of light you see peeking through the trees is the lake.)
