This painting was created using my own photo references for the boats and another photo reference from a book I've had for over five years for the harbor. The man doing the repairs in the forward mast was from a trip to Key West in February 2010. I knew when I took his picture way up high where the seagulls perch, I would be using it in a future painting. Sketched and drawn this summer, I didn't get to work on it until yesterday. See my blog posting for the process from start to finish of this painting. Another one painted into midnight.

Especially love the sky and water! Great painting.
Linda, it's masterful. I really, really love the reflections. Just a beautiful painting.
You do such a great water impressions, Linda! From one your painting to another I do not get tired of it!
Wow! Thank you Thom, Dianne and Tatiana, it's great to be in the company of artists such as yourselves. Thank you for your comments. I enjoy painting the water's reflections.
Very dreamy-very nice watercolor.
I agree with Thom..that sky and the water are amazing!
Oh dear! I looked at the painting and I forgot two important things on this! The two masts were missed on the front sailboat! I will repost the image AFTER I fix this! Geesh!
Painting water is definitely your forte, Linda - and this beautiful painting proves that!
Thank you Clare, Bertie and Cecelia. I think I learned a valuable lesson here: don't sign your painting at midnight! Wait until morning to sign and post it. Me thinks I had me eye patch on too tightly when I posted it the first time!
Thank you all, for your kind words. Sincerely, Linda
Love this post and comments Linda. The blog is so fun when we get to peek inside the creative process of other members.
