His-tory Watercolor Portrait by Pennsylvania Daily Bertie Brown -Art is Instrumental

His-story

original watercolor portrait: 5"w x 7"h

His-tory

The model’s the art

From the pose at the start

To the last painted mark

And if you embark

On a portrait painting lark

His story you can tell

If you do your work well...

Bertie, I was just looking at Karin Jurick's 100 Faces Challenge, where she is painting 100 4x4 portraits from mugshots of convicts around the country...so that may be influencing my perspective on your painting here - but my immediate thought was that this was a painting of a prisoner...such a sad, introspective look on his face...wishing he were home for Christmas instead of behind bars.
Just my impression!

I agree with Claire. He looks very sad. You've captured his mood perfectly!

It is nice to see you do a portrait in that lovely, loose style of yours. Lots of feeling in this one.
