"Awakening" Oil Pastel by Tatiana Myers was selected as "Blossom-II" finalist...

"Awakening" by Tatiana Myers
14 x 11".  Oil Pastel on Pastelboard.

Once again I have to re-post this painting. Last fall it took an Award of Excellence at York Art Association. Today I found out that it was chosen as finalist of Blossom -II, prestigious International Art Competition and touring museum show. Blossom-I ran in 2006 and was open at 2007. It  had 1742 entries by 970 artists from 16 countries. Only 61 works were selected as finalists and were included in show catalog and exhibition.

I can not tell  how many entries it was for the Blossom-II except for the fact, my own was #845 and it was another month to go. I hardly can believe it happened to me, but it did and I better start working on re-framing of "Awakening" and getting ready to ship it to FL, Naples Museum of Art. Maybe I even can figure out something and be at award ceremony. It should be simply fantastic event!

Tatiana--this is a much deserved award and I am going to go see your painting in the Naples Museum-We'll be in Florida in Jan and Feb--we visit in-laws in Naples--I'll arrange to be there when the show opens--My sister-in-law has taken me to Naples Museum many times --it is a lovely place--please let me know if you are going to be there--it would be great to attend the show and see you.

Thank You, Michael!
Thank You, Cecilia!

I do not know yet, if I would be able to make it in Naples. It is very tempting, BUT.... You all, guys know my circumstances. Too many obligations. So, I don't know just yet. BUT... if indeed I'll get one of awards, i will go for sure, even if I will have to walk there. :-) (Cecilia, do you have some spare room in your trunk? I could be very portable, when I have to!) Meanwhile I need to find somebody who may cut acrylic for new frame. I can not ship it under the glass and don't have the right size of acrylic glazing. Somebody knows framing shot what can do it ?

It would be a tight fit with all the stuff we bring, but there will be room on the roof of the car. All kidding aside, I plan to be there--I'm emailing my sister-in-law to save the date--I'll take pictures for you, if you can't be there.

CONGRATULATIONS TATIANA! This is an amazing painting..the way you captured the highlights on the icicles, and contrasted with the out of focus background. Bravo...and I will be crossing my fingers that you get an award and can travel there.

I would greatly appreciate, Cecilia, if you can take some pictures for me. My own trip is looking "iffy". But if I go, it would be great if we can see each other there.

Julie, thank you a lot!
Award... it will be nice! They have some very good awards, I could buy a lot of art supply!

Tatiana, I get my acrylic at Lowe's and they cut it to any size you want. Price is right too. I hope you can work it out to go to the reception-it would be thrilling just to see your work hanging ther.

Thank You, Charlotte!
Not a problem, I found a solution. I DO have Acrylic (Tru Vue Optimum to be exact.) It is almost invisible and has no static. Pretty amazing product in fact. My problem was I can not cut that thing, have to tools to cut plastic, just glass. And size I had was 12x16", while I need 11x14". So... framing shop on Carlisle Pick cut it down to the size I needed. What is wonderful. Now I only need to do my frame shopping.

I wish I can make it to reception too. Maybe I'll get my Incomtax done early and fly down?.. Dreams, dreams!

Thank You, Mary Beth!

My BIG dream was to get it. I am in and as for my consideration it is all I can ask about. Everything else would be a huge bonus, but doesn't change an original fact my painting was included in this stunning show.
Now... not all works will go for two years tour around US and if mine does I only will know in February.
I'm relying on Cecilia for all those photos at case if I can not be there. It is so great to know that one of your friends may actually see it. Wonderful feeling!

What a great thing for you! The painting is really very unusual and I can why is was selected. I love the contrasting color relationships. Sure does have a holiday feeling to it! Congratulations.

Thank you, Ron!

I just received more information on upcoming show Blossom -II, what will be open in February 2011.

There were 2,300 entries by 1350 artists from 35 countries, with 175 Honorable Mentions (included in catalog and virtual show online) and only 100 paintings selected for the actual museum exhibition. WOW! Premiere should be fabulous.
