My acrylic work is meeting success.
Among the Flowers - acrylic on canvas |
It's getting great reviews. It's selling. So, I should stick with what I KNOW that I know, right? Well, sure. I'll continue with the acrylics. Nonetheless, I've had a yearning to return to oil, especially since I learned about Japan Dryer. I had moved away from oils because I am ... well ... I am an impatient sort. Or, I WAS. WAS impatient. With age comes maturity (and sore knees.)
With the completion of "Among the Flowers," a 40 by 60 canvas pictured here, I am retiring the acrylics for a while. Well ... perhaps, not so much retiring as putting to the side. My rescued books demand acrylics.
Tonight, I begin a new series- in oils.
The youngster in me is looking forward to the pain.

Christine, nice painting. I feel like I'm down amid the flowers peering outward. Warm feeling and pleasant. One suggestion though, be sure to put your name in the title line on your work so Google and other search engines find you. Put it also in the labels too. The blue butterfly is a nice touch!
Welcome to the Daily Painters of Pennsylvania Christine. Your first post is fantastic. I actually started out worrying that I needed to use oils and became totally confident that acrylics are the best for me. Everyone is different. Maybe you will always enjoy both mediums!
Welcome to the DPP Blog, Christine. I think this is beautiful - whimsical, and so engaging!
Wow--Do we artists all experience the same anxieties, compulsions and restlessness--I am about to try oils again myself--been using acrylics for some time--I am excited and anxious and trying not to fall prey to the saying "you can't teach an old dog new tricks"
