"Starfish" By Debra Tritt Kreiger

"Starfish" 5"x7" Watercolor on 140lb rough Arches

This was a bit challenging with all the texture of sand and the star fish. I like the way it turned out. I used soft color to balance the textures.
The starfish is also called a sea star. Starfish are not fish at all they are echinoderms (This means spiny skinned in Greek). I love to show the beauty of our little creatures.

Deb, I love everything about this - the comp, the colors and textures. I particularly like the way the starfish is placed within the picture itself. This is a wonderful painting in all respects!

Deb, you did a great job of creating the texture both in the sand and in the starfish's spiny skin. Great work!

Beautiful colors and textures make this a jewel of a painting.

I agree; it is truly gem-like. I wonder if a star fish makes for a still life ... or just a slow one! Beautiful painting!
