Nice to have you back---haven't seen your work for a while--How is your children painting progressing? How casually you describe this piece as "another Civil War painting. I call it another amazing tribute to our rich, albeit sometimes troubling history.I like the placement of the main figure, the tramped-on grass and the the sunlit patch of forest in the background. That highlighted area of beautiful forest is in sad contrast to the ugyliness of the battles which may have taken place there.

Thank you. The painting of our children is coming long. I am actually working on several paintings right now, (in between my 12 hour days of doing commercial painting!) The one painting I am most wanting to finish is a Renaissance figure painting of a brother and sister. I will be posting a "painting in progress" image perhaps next week. For that one I am using oil on acrylic again. These may be my last purely acrylic paintings. I'm enjoying the oil more but it's a transition and taking longer.

Such a wonderful painting, Michael. The expression on the officer's face really makes this even more exceptional. Fantastic!
