Royalton Rocks by Julie Riker

Plein Air Oil
8x10
I feel very fortunate to live so close to the Susquehanna River. There are some spots where the view rivals any coastline. This was painted near Royalton on a somewhat overcast day. I was attracted to the play of color between the rocks and water.

you have captured great depth in this work, Julie. I love the distant hills.

Julie--this serene rendering of a peaceful setting is very lovely. I especially admire the placement of the bird and the way you subtly painted him. He blends in and does not overpower the rest of the painting.

Beautiful depth and distance in this, Julie. I love the way your compostion just walks me right through the painting - well done!

Soft and beautiful ... and yes, I too was struck by the placement and subtlety of the bird.

I love this painting. The bird on the rock is so small and yet my eyes went directly to him...love the reflections in the water. well done.
