The repeated pattern of angled horizontals creates stability and weight that compliments the waterfall and the sunlight that flows from the upper left. Nice painting, Michael!
I love the strong diagonal movement of the trees and rocks as well as the movement of the waterfall--of course the rendering of all in the painting is excellent.
