GULL TALK by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Gull Talk'
Oil 6 x 8

My husband and I were in Beaufort, North Carolina
over the fourth of July weekend to visit family, and
while we were there we took a water ferry over to
Shackleford Island. I spotted these gulls at the
edge of the water, and it looked like they were
having a nice chat and totally enjoying the view.

I have always wanted to visit Beaufort... have been all around the area but never stopped there. I enjoy the south and hope someday to get to visit Beaufort. Love your title for the gulls... I wonder what secrets they are sharing?

Claire--I love paintings that denote life at water's edge-animal, plant or human life. The connection to the water is both spiritual and physical and in this painting-social. What an appropriate title for this work. The gulls are clearly sharing some gossip, while enjoying an ocean view.

Gulls are wonderful subjects. You did a beautiful job with this trio and with the surf.

I like the flow of this painting with the dark blue at the top and the light shore line at the bottom. I also favor birds!
