Christmas Tree Farm -- Illustrations for a Children's Magazine

Here are illustrations completed this week for the December issue of Sparkle magazine - a children's magazine for young girls ages 6-10.  The illustrations are created with a gouache under-painting and pastel Prismacolor pencils and Artstix.

Sketches of these illustrations can be seen by visiting the post on my art blog here.

Wave Study by Dianne Lorden

Oh my gosh, it's been a while since I've posted, during this ultra-busy time of year! I've either been out of town, out of time or just out of my mind. But I did sit down to complete this study from last week's colored pencil class (our last meeting) at the Adams County Arts Council's Imagination Station. This is Prismacolor colored pencil, with some oil pastel marks, on Canson pastel paper. I've discovered, since taking this class, that Sanford has discontinued the "deco" line of Prismacolor pencils. How disappointing! For all I know, this was done some time ago, but I've been working in pastels for a few years and only recently began shopping pencils again. So if anyone has suggestions for subs on those yummy pc deco colors, I'd love to swap ideas. I've taken a few stabs at it, myself.
