'Midsummer Pastoral'

Oil on Archival Linen Panel

This was such a pleasure to paint. The scene
is from a rural area that is close to where we
have our cabin, and because the farms are run
largely by the Amish and Mennonite families, the
hay bales are actually baled with baling wire
instead of plastic. This gives the bales so much
more character, and each one retains its
own 'personality'...perfect for this artist to paint.

This is beautiful and bucolic--I was so distressed when I saw bales completly wrapped in white plastic in upstate NY-white blobs on the greenish fields.
Love it Claire. I always enjoy your posts. See you soon - MB
Beautiful, Claire.
